What to Expect

The new client at Stakeholders will go through four distinct stages, in about as many weeks.

1. Getting to Know You

We will first ask you what values you wish to incorporate in your investments, as well as where you’ve been financially and where you’d like to go.  A first meeting is therefore apt to be a simple conversation, in which you are also determining if we are the right asset managers for your needs. Should the match be right, we will ask you to review and sign a client contract that outlines our mutual expectations and obligations.

In a subsequent meeting, we will ask for a number of documents that allows us to understand your present financial situation.  With this quantitative data, we can revisit your personal plans with recommendations for implementing them realistically.

For clients who are interested in a 100% SRI portfolio, we have The Sustainable Fund.  Please contact us and we’d be happy to explain the SRI landscape and this particular choice.

2. Preliminary Analysis

Based on what we learn from your story and your data, we consider a variety of strategies to suit your needs and goals.  Our team then assesses what appears to be the best fit.  Once we calculate projections in light of your goals, we check in with you to see if the proposed solution succeeds in capturing the nuances of “who you are” and “where you’re heading.”

3. Strategy Refinement

Seeing the preliminary suggestion in writing prompts the next phase of dialogue.  This can be a sensitive process.  When we’ve reached clarity on your wants and needs, we will adapt our recommendations to reflect them.  At the next meeting we will present a final, comprehensive recommendation.

4. Implementation and Monitoring

As a trusted advisor, we conduct quarterly reviews of investment performance and annual meetings with clients. While we have a buy-and-hold strategy, bolstered by options, we also can adjust portfolios to be more conservative or aggressive as life circumstances and preferences evolve.
